The Bernese Mountain Dog is very caring, attentive and patient. They are great with kids but due to their size should not be left alone with them. They love to spend time with people. The Bernese Mountain Dog does not make the best guard dog. They do not react well to strangers and often show shyness. Moderate excercise is needed for this breed to remain healthy.
